Burberry names Jonathan Akeroyd chief executive. The Versace chief is set to join the British luxury brand next April after Marco Gobbetti departs for Salvatore Ferragamo at the end of the year. Akeroyd’s arrival comes as the company is in the midst of a long-standing revival plan. He is expected to continue to execute on his predecessor’s strategy to reposition Burberry as a top-tier luxury player.
Forever 21 chief executive resigns. After joining the ailing mall chain in February 2020, Daniel Kulle exited the position almost two weeks ago, WWD reports. A retail veteran who joined Forever 21 after 25 years at H&M, Kulle was tasked with reviving the brand immediately following its bankruptcy and joint buyout by Simon Property Group, Authentic Brands Group and Brookfield Property Partners.
PVH Corp.’s Manny Chirico retires from the board of directors. Henry Nasella, who is currently serving as presiding director will become the independent, non-executive chairman. Chirico was named to the board in 2006, became chairman in 2007 and served as the company’s chief executive officer from 2006 to February 2021.
Hearst Magazines International names new president. Jonathan Wright, who was previously the global managing director and group publisher of Dow Jones, will oversee the company’s global strategy as well as commercial and editorial operations. Wright will be based in New York and report to Hearst Magazines president Debi Chrichella.
Tailored Brands appoints chief financial officer. Brandy Richardson — who was executive vice president and chief financial officer at Neiman Marcus Group during the retailer’s Chapter 11 restructuring — will join the company in November. Tailored Brands owns stores including Men’s Wearhouse and Jos. A. Bank.
Under Armour names chief consumer officer. Massimo Baratto has been appointed to the newly-created role, where he will oversee the brand’s consumer strategy across marketing, e-commerce and retail. He joined Under Armour in 2018 and served as managing director of the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Zadig & Voltaire appoints Greater China chief executive. Jean Lahirle will lead the company’s Asia growth strategy after advising luxury brands including Chanel, Celine and Delvaux.
Hurr announces new chief operating officer. Lauren Roberts will join the fashion rental platform from Selfridges, where she held the role of group strategy director.
BCBG Max Azria and BCBGeneration name new creative director. Albino Riganello’s first designs will appear in the Fall 2022 collection. Riganello was most recently design director for sustainable contemporary brand AMUR and has experience working for Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Givenchy.
